He won the Pairs medals together with Andrée Joly, whom he would marry in 1929. They also won four World titles (26,28,30,32).
He also competed individually, with an eight place at Chamonix and seventh at St.Moritz, and ten national titles.
They refused to defend their title in Garmisch Partenkirchen, out of protest against Nazi Germany.
They emigrated to the USA in 1940.
Their son Jean-Pierre was one of only two skaters ever to win against Dick Button, and his pupil Carol Heiss became Olympic champion in 1960.
