Herman's Top 2000 Olympians

the new Honour Points

The Honour Points (HP) are attributed according to a special ranking system I devised :
A gold medal is worth 1600 points, silver 1000, bronze 640, a fourth place 400, fifth 250, sixth 160.
From sixth onwards, all points are ten times fewer than five places up. Thus an 11th place is 16, 16th is 1.6 and so on.
Then these points are multiplied by a coefficient, the Honour Rating (HR) depending on the type of event :
An individual only event scores x6
If there is also a Team classification : x5
A Pair only event : x5
An individual event where there is more than one distance : x4
Such a pair event : x3
A Three-man event : x4
A Four-man event : x3
A Team sport : x2
A Relay or a Team combined event : x1
At gymnastics all apparatus : x1 (after 2004:x4)
These coefficients can change from olympiad to olympiad.
Finally, a bonus is given for placings in the same event in Olympiads 8 years apart. This bonus is of 100% if there are three golds, 50% for 2 golds, 25% for 1 gold, 10% if there is no gold. The bonus is given when the competitor places in the top-6 8 years apart.

I have decided to include the results from Athina 1906. Because of this, the results for 1904, 1906 AND 1908 all count for just 75% of their normal value.
Similarly the points for the Winter Olympics of 1992 and 1994 count for 75% of their normal value.

Currently I am in the process of changing the original HP into the new ones.  The rankings are done as one, and it is easy to see the difference, as the new ones are 100 times as large as the old ones.  However, they are ranked through each other.

the original Honour Points

The Honour Points (HP) are attributed according to a special ranking system I devised :
A gold medal is worth 16 points, silver 10, bronze 6, a fourth place 4, fifth 3, sixth 2
A bonus is given for three placings in the same event in different Olympiads, this bonus is of 100% if there are three golds, 50% for 2 golds, 25% for 1 gold, 10% if there is no gold. Placings in 1912-20 and 1936-48 count as three.
Finally these points are multiplied by a coefficient, the Honour Rating (HR) depending on the type of event :
An individual only event scores x6
If there is also a Team classification : x5
A Pair only event : x5
An individual event where there is more than one distance : x4
Such a pair event : x3
A Three- or Four-man event : x3

A Relay or a Team combined event : x1
At gymnastics all apparatus : x1
These coefficients can change from olympiad to olympiad.
