Mallon's book informs us that there were 16 starters, and he gives two of the fourth-placed finishers, although he does not know who raced in which heat. They are absent on the website.
Frank Bizzoni rode in the novice race on the 2nd of August, the date of the 1/2 mile race. No other riders participated on 2 August, but it is unlikely that the 16th rider did not particpate later in the week so it is probably Frank Montaldi, since the two only remaining riders raced in the 5 and 25 miles events.
