The territory of the country now known as Zimbabwe was British since 1888, and administered
by the British South Africa Company of Cecil Rhodes.
On 1 October 1923 it became a British colony under the name Southern Rhodesia.
In 1953 the two Rhodesias, and Nyasaland, were joined in the "Federation of
Rhodesia and Nyasaland", but the three countries sent separate teams to
the British Empire and Commonwealth Games of 1954 and 1958.
In 1960 the Federation fielded a team in Roma simply called "Rhodesia".
It contained one person who was definitely from Northern Rhodesia, some of the others
may also have been, but I class them under Southern Rhodesia = Zimbabwe.
