Regions of Turkey
The Greek city of Smyrna was situated on the Asian mainland. After 1922, the
Greek-speaking population had to leave and the city became Turkish, under the
name of İzmir.
Athletes from Smyrna competed at the Olympics of 1896 and 1906.

These athletes must be considered Greek nationals.
