Region of Myanmar

The territory of the country now known as Myanmar was British since 1885, and was administered from, but was not part of India. It was called Burma by the British.
On 4 January 1948 the colony became independent and was called the Union of Burma.
The country was renamed Myanmar in 1988.
The colony of Burma did not send teams to the pre-war Olympics, but there was one athlete from Burma on the Indian team,
The Union of Burma sent teams from 1948 onwards.
From 1992 the NOC was called Myanmar.
