Member of the American relay team that won gold in Barcelona, Atlanta and
Sydney.
Sydney were her best olympics in the sense that she finally also had individual
successes.
She does have three gold medals for the medley relay, but I don't call her
a double "triple champion" because she did not swim in the final in 1996.
Swimmers in the heats also get gold medals, but I don't feel this is truly
justified.
There was no 4 x 200 m relay yet in 1992, or she could have a third set of
three medals.

He would undoubtedly have won more medals had the Americans in 1932 not opted
for the mass starts, with which he and most Europeans did not agree. So he
decided to miss the Lake Placid Olympics. He set four World records and adopted
Nurmi's attitude to sport, training throughout the year.
The gold on 500 m at St.Moritz was a tie with Bernt
Evensen.
