Given that he was born in Brno, I shall class this athlete as Czech. Brno is the capital of Moravia, which was part of Austria before WWI. In contrast to Bohemia, now also part of Czechia, Moravia did not field separate teams in the pre-war Olympics, and their athletes competed for Austria.
